Dadenggre is a constituency of the 60 legislative assembly seats in Meghalaya. It is a town in West Garo Hills district and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. It falls under Tura Lok Sabha constituency. The village is roughly 25 kilometres from Garobadha and around 60 kilometres from Tura. In Dadenggre village, most of the village population is from ST cast.
Three time MLA from Dadenggre and National People’s Party (NPP) stalwart James Pangsang Kongkal Sangma is the sitting MLA of the constituency. He defeated then-Independent and current TMC candidate Rupa M. Marak in the 2018 Assembly elections with 7,239 votes, winning the seat for the party by a margin of 2785 votes.
The 2023 election will again witness a tough competition between the incumbent MLA James Pangsang Kongkal Sangma and TMC’s Rupa M Marak.
