It falls under Tura Lok Sabha constituency. Chokpot is a Town and Block in South Garo Hills. The estimated population of Chokpot in 2023 is 53,431. There are a total of 301 villages in this Block.
Former Congress leader and TMC candidate Lazarus Sangma is the sitting MLA of the constituency. Lazarus Sangma won the seat in the 2018 Assembly elections with 8,410 votes by defeating National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Secondson A. Sangma with a margin of 2051 votes.
