Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has arrived in Gangtok, Sikkim today to inaugurate the 19th Annual Conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association India Region, Zone III. The conference is being held at the Sikkim Legislative Assembly.
The Lok Sabha Speaker is accompanied by Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha, Harivansh Narayan Singh, Chairman, CPA, India Region Zone III, Passang D. Sona, Speakers, Deputy Speakers, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, MPs and two MLAs including Leader of Opposition of the North Eastern States.
The conference will conclude on 26 February.
The DONER Minister and Speakers of all State Legislatures of the nation will also be attending the conference.
The conference will deliberate on topics including accessible Parliament and Assembly for the public, drug abuse, and way forward, as well as cyber bullying.
Om Birla is visiting Sikkim for three days from 23rd February to 25th February.
