Arunachal is the Microcosm of India: President Murmu at 37th Arunachal Statehood Day celebrations

On the occassion, President Droupadi Murmu laid the foundation stone of the common directorate for the state Human Rights Commission, Lokayukta and the State Food Commission.

President Droupadi Murmu today attended the 37th Statehood Day of Arunachal Pradesh.

Beginning her speech, President Murmu said,”This is my first visit to Arunachal Pradesh after assuming the post of President. I thank everyone for according me a warm welcome. I am especially happy about the fact that I can visit Arunachal Pradesh for the first time on the occasion of the Statehood Day. I extend My heartiest congratulations to each and every resident of the state.”

Highlighting the significance of the frontier state, President Murmu said,”In terms of regional significance, Arunachal Pradesh is the biggest state of the region (NE) and assumes lot of significance (Geographically and Socailly) since it shares international borders (with China). In terms of national security and economic growth, good infrastructure is inevitable. I am happy to know that the Centre has sanctioned projects worth over Rs 44000 crore for the development of highways in the state.”

President Murmu also lauded Arunachal Pradesh in terms of surplus power generation. President Murmu said, “After the starting of 600 MW power project in West Kameng, the state has attained the status in terms of surplus power production.”

President Murmu also highlighted the fact that the government is committed to enhance connectivity in the frontier state.

In this context, the President said,”Few months ago the Donyi Polo Airport was inaugurated. This is the first Greenfied Airport of Arunachal Pradesh. And I am happy that I could arrive through this aiport. I was informed that this is an all weather airport, which also gives a boost to renewable energy and recycling. I believe that this will boost the connectivity of the state as well as trade, commerce and tourism.”

Meanwhile, the President during her address to the people of Arunachal Pradesh said that the frontier state is the Microcosm of India.

She said,”Arunachal is the Land of the Rising Sun and is full of diversity in terms of natural resources. Diversity and Unity among the various tribes of this state is a source of inspiration for the entire nation. Thus, we can say that Arunachal Pradesh is a microcosm of India. Enriched with flora, fauna, mountains, Arunachal Pradesh is definitely a hotspot of biodiversity.”

Besides, President Droupadi Murmu also said,”Arunachal Pradesh as well as other states of Northeast are taking development of the nation to a new height. This time India is hosting the G20 Summit. I am happy to know that several meetings of the G20 will be held in Northeast too. I believe that these G20 meetings will enhance the tourism and the exchange of culture. “

President Murmu launched two animation films on indigenous folk stories of Arunachal Pradesh and laid the foundation stone of the 40km double Lane Road between Donyi polo airport and the Naharlgun Railway Station via Sonajuli and Durpang.

President Droupadi Murmu will be addressing the members of the Legislative Assembly during a special session at 10 am tomorrow.
