The injured CPI (M) supporters have been identified as Ajoy Das and Manoranjan Sarkar

With elections due in barely six days, the political atmosphere in Tripura continues to be volatile.
On Wednesday evening, at least two CPI(M) members were critically injured in an alleged attack by ruling BJP supporters in Majlishpur constituency.
The injured CPI(M) supporters have been identified as Ajoy Das and Manoranjan Sarkar.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. in the daspara area, after CPI(M) supporters had finished squatting in that area, when they were attacked with rods and sticks by ruling party supporters, leaving two people critically injured, according to Dhanonjoy Sarkar, the brother of one of the injured.
The injured were rushed to a GB hospital in Agartala and are undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, former MLA and CPIM leader Ratan Das, who visited the hospital, alleged that the CPIM supporters were squatting with prior permission but did not get police security.
He also questioned the Election Commission’s declaration of zero poll violence, despite the fact that attacks on the opposition by supporters of the ruling party are common in Tripura.
