Sikkim government files review petition over Sikkimese-Nepali identity row

CM PS Tamang would be travelling to New Delhi to meet Law Minister Kiren Rijiju and other top legal experts
Amid the Sikkimese-Nepali row, the Government of Sikkim today filed a review petition before the Supreme Court to address the grievances and sentiments of the people of Sikkim concerning certain observations in the judgement pronounced on January 13, 2023 by the Apex Court.
The Additional Advocate General of Sikkim and the Law Secretary, Government of Sikkim are handy the matter in New Delhi with legal experts.
“I will travel to New Delhi to personally meet the Hon’ble Law Minister, Government of India, Shri Kiren Rijiju Ji, as well as top legal officials from across the country, to discuss next steps.” CM Prem Singh Tamang posted on social media.
“I reassure everyone that the matter is being dealt with in all seriousness, and I will do everything possible to protect the rights and dignity of all the Sikkimese people.” CM Tamang further wrote.
