CAP founder Ganesh Rai also informed that they would go to the governor and demand an assembly session as soon as possible

Sikkim’s newly formed Citizen Action Party (CAP) held a protest rally on Thursday at the premises of Gangtok District Court on the ongoing Sikimmese-Nepali row.

The protest was carried out against labelling of Sikkimese Nepalis as ‘foreigners’ in their own home land by the Supreme Court in a judgement on the case of IT exemption.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Citizen Action Party Chief Coordinator, Ganesh Rai said that Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang is making a misleading statement and creating misinformation on the whole issue. The Chief Minister is unable to keep a proper and clear message in front of the people of Sikkim.
Ganesh Rai also termed Chief Minister Tamang’s statement as irresponsible.

Rai also informed that they would go to the governor and demand a session of the assembly as soon as possible.

Rai also stressed that since the SKM government is demanding a review petition, the chance to do so is very low, as there have only been 1.5% of accepted review petitions until now in India.

“Sudesh Joshi’s resignation from his post and the Sikkim government’s not terminating him can also be a mystery,” he added.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Tuesday said that the Sikkim government is serious about the Sikkimese-Nepali issue. He said that the government will file a review petition in two days, adding that the central government has also supported the review petition.

Tamang also alleged that the SDF government has not thought of anything to review or remove the issue in the last 25 years.
