Assam: Police rescues 3 minor girls from being trafficked to Bengaluru on pretext of jobs, detains 2

A Dibrugarh police team yesterday rescued three minor girls from being allegedly trafficked to Bengaluru on the pretext of jobs and detained two persons in the connection.

Police rescued the girls all under the age of 14 from Lahowal area of the city.

The detained persons have been identified as-Simanta Gogoi and Gunin Gogoi both hail from Naharkatia.

On receiving information that the girls were travelling from Dibrugarh to Bengaluru, the police team stopped them in Lahowal area and brought them to the police station for questioning. During the interrogation, they stated that Simanta Gogoi and Gunin Gogoi had called them under the pretext of providing them jobs, said police.

Later, police traced their locations and detained them.

Investigation into the matter is underway.
