Assam CM to embark on 3-day visit to Dibrugarh today, inspect anti-erosion projects of WRD, attend Me-Dam-Me-Phi festival

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will embark on a three-day visit to Dibrugarh starting today.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will visit sites of various anti-erosion projects being implemented by the Water Resources Department (WRD) at Dinjan, Naharkatia and Maijan in Dibrugarh.

At around 7 P.M today, the Chief Minister will interact with prominent citizens of Dibrugarh on various issues at the WRD Guest House.

On January 30, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the Assam Cabinet meeting at the Dibrugarh DC office at around 11 A.M.

Later, the Chief Minister will attend some local events after the Cabinet meeting.

On January 31, Chief Minister Sarma will attend the Me-Dam-Me-Phi festival at Tipam, close to Naharkatia.

Me-Dam-Me-Phi is a significant ancestor worship communal festival celebrated all over Assam by the Ahom people on 31 January every year in memory of the departed. It is a ceremony in which offerings are made to the Dam Chao Gods and dead ancestors.

Later on the day, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will return to Dispur, Guwahati.
