Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has yet again reiterated that his government will not take any step that hurts the interest of the people of Assam.
Sonowal was reacting to the row surrounding the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill in the state.
The government would never indulge in anything that may hurt the sentiments of the people, Sonowal said at a time when protests opposing the Citizenship bill are on the rise in the state.
Sonowal said his government was committed to upholding the interests of the indigenous people of the state and people can keep a strict watch over the workings of the state government in case they have any doubt in their minds.
The Chief Minister also reiterated his government’s clarion call of standing strong against corruption.
