Solution will depend on negotiating parties: Nagaland CM on Naga issue

The Nagaland Chief Minister also made it clear that all the 60-legislators are making relentless efforts to take things to a logical end as facilitators.

Amid the clamour for a solution to the Naga issue before the ensuing assembly elections in Nagaland, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today said that everybody seeks for a solution, but everything depends on the negotiating groups.

Rio briefing newspersons, said,”Everybody wants solution but that will depend on the negotiating parties not the general public.”

The Nagaland Chief Minister also made it clear that all the 60-legislators are making relentless efforts to take things to a logical end as facilitators.

He said, “The general public can put pressure, the 60 members we are facilitators we are putting pressure, we are also reasoning with everybody, but outcome will be with the negotiating parties.”

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said when asked about the Central Naga Tribes Council (CNTC) meeting today seeking solution before to the Naga issue before the elections.

Meanwhile, the Nagaland Chief Minister also welcomed the joint statement issued by the NSCN-IM and NNPGs declaring their unconditional commitment to collaborate with the Government of India for the resolution of the Naga political issue.

Rio said, “The joint statement of NNPGs and NSCN-IM I want to personally welcome it. We support because we cannot create a constitutional crisis and kind of creating law and order problem. So, I think right thinking persons they should pursue by the rules.”

Earlier, in September last year it was indeed a massive development, as both the NSCN-IM and the NNPGs held a rare meeting pledging to work together for the Naga cause.

In the historic meet facilitated by the Forum of Naga Reconciliation, the NSCN-IM and NNPGs jointly took three resolutions the prime among which was to work together in the spirit of love,” and desist from all forms of armed violence and refrain from indulging in the violence of words through print and social media among Naga Political Groups and the general public.
