The All Assam Student’s Union has taken the fight against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill outside the region with its top leaders led by its Chief Advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya meeting Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal United leader Nitish Kumar in Patna last night.
During the 2-hour long meeting, Nitish Kumar told the AASU delegation that his party is against the bill on religious lines and expressed concern on the identity of indigenous people of Assam.
The Bihar CM said that he would soon write to Prime Minister Modi to express his opposition to the Bill. The AASU leaders had an interaction on the issue with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju besides leaders from Biju Janata Dal, Trinamool Congress, Telegu Desam, TMK, CPM, CPI-M, AIADMK and BPF.
