A senior official of the ONGC has been arrested by the CBI in Sivasagar after he was caught red handed taking bribe from a contractor.

ONGC Deputy General Manager AK Singh was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a Sivasagar based contractor Rafiqul Hazarika this afternoon.

Singh was allegedly harassing Hazarika to pay him a bribe of Rs 12 lakh to clear some pending bills.

When despite several requests, Singh did not clear his bill, Hazarika approached the Central Bureau of Investigation and lodged a written complaint with the investigating agency.

Accordingly, a plan was hatched to trap the Officer and today he was arrested while accepting the first installment of the bribe of Rs. 2 lakh.
