Barpeta doctor booked under POCSO act

The doctor, identified as Shahidul Islam of Manikpur Hospital in Barpeta, was accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old minor.
In a shocking incident, a doctor from Assam’s Barpeta district was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl.
The doctor, identified as Shahidul Islam of Manikpur Hospital in Barpeta, was accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old minor.
The police have arrested the doctor from his home in Howly, and a case has been filed under the POCSO Act against the doctor.
As per reports, the doctor was arrested on the basis of an FIR lodged by a woman from Jyoti Village in Assam’s Barpeta.
However, the doctor has refuted all the allegations and termed them as false.
The doctor has accused the victim’s family of harassing him by levelling false allegations against him over a land dispute.
Meanwhile, the accused doctor has been sent to judicial custody after the Barpeta police presented him in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Barpeta.
