Manipur govt doctors not to shut opds tomorrow

Alleging indifferent treatment by the government, the AMHSDA had threatened to shut down OPDs for two days from tomorrow.

All Manipur Health Services Doctors’ Association (AMHSDA) has temporarily suspended its proposed OPD closure strike that was set to begin Tuesday.

Alleging indifferent treatment by the government, the AMHSDA had threatened to shut down OPDs for two days from tomorrow.

The OPD closure was temporarily suspended following a meeting between government and protesting doctors Monday evening.

The meeting was chaired by health minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan and also attended by Addl Chief Secretary V. Vumlunmang and AMHSDA executives.

AMHSDA suspended its strike following assurance by the government to discuss demands of the AMHSDA in the cabinet. It is said that the government assured to table and discuss its demands in the cabinet for December month, which is likely to be held in the next few days.

The health services doctors, numbering around 1,300 are posted in district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and health centres.
