Assam: 8 HPC-D cadres surrender in Cachar, to join mainstream in Jan 2023

As many as eight members of Hmar militant outfit HPC-D (Hmar People Convention’s Democratic) laid down arms on December 21 in Assam’s Cachar district.

The HPC-D cadres surrendered at Lakhipur police station in the presence of South Region Division DIG Kankan Jyoti Saikia and Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta.

They also handed over several weapons to the police which include AK-47s, grenades, and pistols.

As per police sources the group of surrendered HPC-D members will return to mainstream in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in January, 2023.
