If you are planning to go for picnic in any of the spots in Tinsukia district, then you need to read this story. The district administration has issued certain prohibitory orders to maintain the natural habitat in and around the district’s picnic areas and river banks during the picnic season.

The district administration has prohibited the use and disposal of non-biodegradable plastic and other plastic items on or near picnic areas and river banks.

Other restrictions imposed throughout Tinsukia during the picnic season are:

• Use of high volume loud speakers, DJ, PA Systems, mike etc in and around the picnic spots/river banks.

• Selling, buying and consumption of alcohol in and around the picnic spots/river banks.

• Littering and open defecation in and around the picnic spots/river banks.

• Drunk and Drive in the district.

This order comes into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders or till modified or set aside by any competent authority throughout the district as per the provision of law.

However, anyone who feels they have been unfairly affected by this order may object and request an exemption, the district administration said.

Any violation of these prohibitory orders would result in prosecution under Section 188 of the IPC of the violators.

The public’s health is at risk because of the significant environmental pollution caused by the use of plastic bags and other non-biodegradable items in picnic areas and river banks in the district, the district administration said.
