Big News: Assam Rifles foil PLA plot to disturb peace and disrupt R-Day Celebrations in Manipur

The PLA cadres confessed that they had plans to blow up govt installations and disrupt Republic Day celebrations in Manipur
In a big breakthrough, Assam Rifles today, Dec 20, 2022 apprehended two PLA insurgents who had plans to blow up different government installations at various places of the valley districts of Manipur and target security forces during the eve of the upcoming Republic Day, Assam Rifles said.
Assam Rifles recovered a large cache of arms and ammunitions from the duo identified as Maibam Kanta Singh (45) and Bhumeshor Thoudam (39) both from Litan Makhong, Heirok Part 2, Thoubal, Manipur.
“Today at about 1AM, received a reliable input from 16 AR (Assam Rifles) that some cadres of the PLA are planning to disrupt the upcoming Republic Day Celebrations and that explosives have been transported to Heirok Area of Thoubal District and based on the information, teams of CDO-TBL and columns of 16 AR led by O. Wangkhomba Addl. SP (Ops) TBL assisted by OC CDO TBL K. Nitaranjan Singh under the overall supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam, IPS, SP Thoubal, conducted a massive search operation in and around Heirok Part 2 Chingol Area from 5:00 am,” the Assam Rifles said.
During the search, the teams detained two cadres of the PLA, Maibam Kanta Singh and Bhumeshor Thoudam and recovered the following from their possession:
- 1 GLOCK 9mm Pistol with magazine
- Two 9mm Pistols with magazine
- 90 live rounds of 9 mm
- 9 Chinese made Hand grenades
- 8 detonators
- 1 wired detonator
- 1 remote control and 9V battery
- 3 wireless detonator receiver
- 3 mobile phones
On further questioning, they revealed that on the instructions of Deepak, S/S Captain of the PLA, they had planned to detonate explosives at different government installations at various places of the valley districts and target security forces during the eve of the upcoming Republic Day.
The two have been arrested and have been handed over to Heirok Police Station and a case has been registered for further necessary action.
