Watch: Arunachal Police’s hot chase inside dense forest to nab drug peddlers with 1100 kg cannabis

Arunachal Pradesh police walked for over 5 hours deep inside the forests of West Kameng and gave a hot chase to nab drug peddlers who fled into the dense forest to hide from them.

Acting on specific inputs that there were some illegal movements in the forest known as Boro Plain under Balemu police station in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, the police team led by West Kameng SP B Bharat Reddy launched a long range patrolling of more than 5 hours into the forest of Boro Plain. The team nabbed one Sanjit Bosumotary of Mazuli village Rowta, Assam, and seized 1100 kg of dried cannabis recovered.

The police burnt the cannabis in the spot. There were around 30 people carrying the cannabis in headloads. Most of them dropped the headloads and fled to escape being caught by the police.

Deputy SP Kek Dam Lingo, officer in-charge of Balemu police station sub-inspector D T Kharma and other police personnel were part of the search team.

A case under the NDPS was registered at Balemu police station and the accused was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Bomdila. The accused has been send to 7 days police remand.

Apart from cannabis, the police have also recovered ration items, utensils, torch lights and other essential provisions for night halt.
