Joint Parliamentary committee begins hearing on Citizenship Amendment Bill in Silchar

The Joint Parliamentary Committee has arrived at Silchar today on a 2-day tour for hearing on the proposed Bill. The hearing on the proposed bill at Sichar began at 5pm.

While, the Joint Parliamentary Committee today will meet organisations from Karimganj and Hailakandi, tomorrow it will be meeting organisations from Cachar district of Assam.
The Joint parliamentary committee is set to re-conduct a hearing into the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
The development comes after the panel was hearing representations of various political parties and organisations at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati on Monday.
However, the decision to re conduct hearing was taken after only 83 organisations had filed representations. This was disclosed by Directorate of Information and Public Relations Rajiv Prakash Barua.
