Playing for Uzbekistan Club PFC Sevinch Karshi, Dangmei won the Uzbekistan League and Uzbekistan Cup

Manipur’s ace footballer, Dangmei Grace was accorded a rousing welcome when she returned home on Saturday after winning the Uzbekistan League and Uzbekistan Cup. The woman international footballer plays for Uzbekistan Club PFC Sevinch Karshi.

Hundreds of people flocked to the Imphal International Airport and welcomed her with the traditional beating of the drums and singing praises of the footballer.

Speaking to Northeast Live upon her arrival at the Imphal International Airport, the footballer said that her contract with the Uzbek club is now over and she is returning home. She would now be looking forward to other opportunities.

When asked about her experience playing for an overseas club, she stated that it was initially difficult for her to cope with the players, but she eventually learned to adjust and going got easy.

Earlier in May, Dangmei, 26, caught everyone’s attention as she helped Gokulam Kerala win the Indian Women’s League. Six months later, in November, she helped Uzbek club PFC Sevinch Karshi win two trophies in Uzbekistan. She had signed the Uzbek Club in July this year.
