Imphal: 14th Manipur Polo International Kicks Off

Teams from US and UK would be participating in the tournament that will go on till Nov 29

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated the 14th Manipur Polo International at Imphal Polo Ground on Tuesday.

“Delighted to attend the inaugural function of the 14th Manipur Polo International 2022 at Mapal Kangjeibung (Pologround), Imphal West today. Over the years, this tournament has been playing a significant role in letting the world know that Polo was originated in Manipur,” CM Biren Singh tweeted.

The event is organized by Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association as part of the Sangai Festival. Govindas Konthoujam, minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Khasim Vashum, minister for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and K Robindro, chairperson MANIDCO were present at the inaugural event.

The five teams participating in the event are — United Kingdom, US, Indian Polo Association, Manipur Polo Team and the Indian Navy Polo Team.

The tournament will go on till 29 November 2022.
