The Sikkim Reform Call (SRC) will go ahead with it’s Sikkim Sudhar Yatra (Sikkim Reform Rally), leader and founder of SRC, Ganesh Rai said within hours of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) supporters trying to stop the Rally at Melli in South Sikkim today.

Briefing newspersons, Rai alleged that supporters of the ruling party were sent to block the Yatra, that led to commotion.

Rai, a former Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) leader said, “We dont have any issues against them (SKM). Our main aim is to make efforts for stopping whatever bad is happening in governance. We have necessary permission for our march. We will go to Namthang. We dont know when our cars will be allowed to move, but we will march ahead on foot. We will complete our Yatra.”

Responding to the allegations of irregularities levelled against him by the SKM, Rai said the allegations are all since he was neither an MLA nor a Minister during the SDF rule. In fact, Rai wondered as to why the SKM despite being in power, has not initiated probe against such allegations. Ganesh Rai said that the SKM is doing nothing inspite of coming to power and is wasting time by harping on such baseless corruption issues.

It may be mentioned the SKM had alleged that Ganesh Rai was involved in a number of irregularities pertaining to welfare schemes for those needy.
