First Published: 18th November, 2022 18:03 IST

#RIPTwitter started to trend on Twitter as the company’s offices have been temporarily closed till November 21.

Twitter offices shut on Thursday after hundreds of employees started to leave in droves following an ultimatum from Elon Musk on Wednesday. The CEO had asked Twitter employees to either commit to an “extremely hardcore” culture at the company that involves “long hours at high intensity” or leave with severance.

Hundreds of resignations rolled in and as waves of employees opted for the three months severance pay, Twitter Inc. announced via email that it would close their office buildings and disable employee badge access until Monday, November 21.

Musk had made a last ditch attempt to dissuade certain “critical” employees from quitting. Reports also said that he seemed to retreat on his stance on not allowing people to work from home in confusing messages about the company’s remote work policy.
