Oil tanker driver Tula Ram Buragohain and his helper Adman Surin, who were abducted by NSCN-K near New Helipong village under Tuensang district on April 22, were released safely by the abductors this morning.

The duo were handed over by the NSCN-K to the members of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization or the ENPO. Later, ENPO handed over the duo to the Tuensang Deputy Commissioner.

Much turmoil in Nagaland followed the abduction of the duo with the Petroleum transporters and dealers associations in Nagaland calling for an indefinite state wide strike demanding rescue of the driver and his helper.

However, the associations lifted the strike after an assurance from the Nagaland Government of their safe release.
