2023 polls: TIPRA Motha to contest in 40 seats

Bhutia said that it is high time Tripura undergoes a real change. He further said that the role of regional parties is crucial in Northeast.

Elections in Tripura are still a few months away, but the stage has already heated up. The Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance or TIPRA Motha is also gearing up for the 2023 polls. In an apparent show of strength, the TIPRA MOTHA held a massive rally in Agartala on Saturday. Even, Hamro Sikkim Party chief and footballer turned politician Bhaichung Bhutia also expressed his solidarity to the TIPRA MOTHA rally and shared the same stage with TIPRA MOTHA supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.

It was a sea of supporters at the Astabal Ground in Agartala, as Pradyot Kishore Debbarma harped on the issue of Greater Tipraland and safeguard of the rights and privileges of the indigenous people.

Pradyot Debbarma backed the demand for Greater Tipraland is constitutional and affirmed to fight till the end for the cause.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Pradyot Manikya said that the TIPRA Motha is not communal in character, but believes in inclusiveness and unity among all sections of society irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

Meanwhile, Debbarma said that his party will be contesting in 40 seats in the 2023 polls.

Meanwhile, HSP chief Bhaichung Bhutia, speaking to Northeast Live, said that it is high time Tripura undergoes a real change. He further said that the role of regional parties is crucial in Northeast.

Also speaking to Northeast Live was former Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) leader Mewar Kumar Jamatia, who recently jumped ship to TIPRA Motha.

Jamatia said that the state government and the Centre will have to take the demand for Greater Tipraland seriously.
