Bio-diversity protection: French delegation meets Assam Environment min

Bio-diversity protection: French delegation reiterates commitment to strengthen Assam Govt’s efforts for protection of bio-diversity.

Bio-diversity protection: A French delegation led by Country Director of Agence Française de Développement (AFD) India Bruno Bosle today called on Minister of Environment & Forest, Govt of Assam Chandramohan Patowary.

During the meeting, talks centred about the status of project implementation in the sphere of bio-diversity protection in Assam.

It is to be mentioned that the Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation is co-funded by the AFD and the Government of Assam to pave a way for conserving forests and the state’s biodiversity while improving the livelihood of the forest-dependent communities.

During the meeting, the French delegation reiterated French Government’s commitment to strengthen Assam Government’s efforts for protection of bio-diversity and increase green cover in the state.

The team also stressed on the speedy disbursement of project funds so that targets can be achieved on time.
Forest Minister Patowary, thanked the AFD delegation for its continuous support and advance release of funds for the project.

Besides, Patowary assured that all cooperation would be extended from the Forest Department for achieving the targets within stipulated timeframe.
