Ace boxer Lovlina Borgohain won the gold at the Asian Boxing Championship in the 75kg category today.

The Ace boxer defeated Uzbekistan’s Ruzmetova Sokhiba by a 5-0 unanimous decision to claim the gold medal.

It may be mentioned that the Olympic bronze medalist is competing in her maiden tournament in her new weight category (75kg category).

Since her former weight class is not included in the Paris Olympics, she had moved up from 69 kg to 75 kg.

The win will be a big morale booster for the Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain who has had difficulties regaining her form since her bronze-winning exploits in the Tokyo Olympics.

Despite the two boxers’ hesitation to start the fight and encouragement from the other to go first, Lovlina, who has made significant progress during the competition, was able to use her long reach and land a few solid jabs.

Although the two attempted to stop each other’s punches by spinning around the ring, Lovlina was successful in landing hers. She threw a blow with such ferocity that the referee had no choice but to give it to her.

On the other hand, Parveen Hooda clinched the gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championships in the 63 kg category.

Hooda won by beating Japan’s Kito Mai by a 5-0 unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, Minashi won the silver medal in the Women’s 52kg Flyweight catagory, giving India yet another victory.

With her Split decision loss against Japan’s Kinoshita Rinka in the Women’s 52kg Flyweight final, she lost her chance to win the gold medal.
