Meghalaya: Protest by 4 pressure groups in Shillong

The groups are demanding early implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP), inclusion of Khasi Language in the 8TH Schedule besides others.

Members of 4 pressure groups led by Save Hynniewtrep Mission took to the streets in Meghalaya capital Shillong this afternoon.

HYC, HANM, EJNC, JSM and Corp. Alert members demanded that the government fulfil their charter of demands.

The agitating groups demonstrated in two different locations- near the SP office and near the DC office point.

The groups are demanding early implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP), inclusion of Khasi Language in the 8TH Schedule, review of interstate boundary MoU, relocation of Harijan colony, CBI or judicial probe into Late Cherristerfield Thangkhiew death , filling up vacant posts in government departments and immediate repeal of Gambling Act.

Meanwhile, a section of leaders of the agitating groups also met Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui.
It may be mentioned that the groups are protesting despite imposition of Section of 144, which bars amalgamation of 5 or more persons.
