Oil tanker and petroleum dealers associations across the state have threatened to go on an indefinite strike as far as transportation of petroleum is concerned following abduction of two oil tanker drivers near New Helipong village under Tuensang district on April 22.
In fact the Oil tanker and petroleum dealers associations have served a 48-hour deadline to the government to trace the missing drivers Tula Ram Buragohain and Adman Surin, failing which they indefinite halt transportation of petroleum into the state.
In an ultimatum, the presidents of the associations warned that failure to trace and rescue the drivers within the set deadline will be compelled to impose indefinite closure of petrol pumps in the state besides going ahead with a chakka bandh to halt transport of petroleum products into the state.
While police are yet to make a breakthrough into the abduction, petrol pumps in state capital Kohima already seem to be going dry. The SKV Petrol pump in Kohima has already downed its shutters following halt in supply of petrol and diesel. Other petrol stations will soon have to follow suit if the supply does not resume.
