The seven German nationals who were detained for violating visa norms have been deported from Assam. Highly placed sources have confirmed to Northeast Live that the seven German nationals have been deported from Assam and were escorted to New Delhi by a team of Assam Police.

The Germans will be sent off to their nation today from the IGI Airport. The seven German nationals have, in the meantime, also paid a fine of 500 US dollars, which was levied as a fine on them by the authorities.

Meanwhile, the Assam Police has appealed to the people to report any matter to the authorities if any foreigner is seen engaging in religious activities anywhere in the state. Assam Police also said that they are keeping a close watch on the activities of foreigners in this regard.

Northeast Live team caught up with cabinet minister Jayanta Malla Baruah following the deportation of the seven German nationals.

Baruah said that the government is keeping a close watch on the developments as many cases were found earlier where people could come on tourist visas and indulge in religious activities.

Noteworthy here is that this is the second set of foreigners who have been caught in Assam engaging in conversion activities. Yesterday, three Swedish nationals were deported back to their country after they were detained in Assam as they were engaging in conversion activities.

Noteworthy here is that the seven German nationals who have been in the state since October 21st were allegedly indulging in proselytising activities. 

All seven were detained when they were on their way to a resort in Kaziranga from Rangagora. The seven German nationals have been identified as Christian Reiser, Michael Erich Schaper, Merten Asmus, Cornelia Von, Hinrich Luppen Von, Christa O’Learius, and Lisa Aimee Bloem.

Reportedly, the seven German nationals have been indulging in missionary activities in various places since October 26, including Tinsukia, Margherita, Tezpur, and Karbi Anglong.
