Veteran Assamese actor Nipon Goswami’s last journey will begin today. The veteran actor’s last rites are to be performed later today with full state honours.

In order for people to offer their final tributes to Goswmai, his mortal remains would be conveyed from the Jyoti Chitraban studios to the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.

The body would then be carried to Dighalipukhuri, close to the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika tomb. The All Assam Students Union leadership would thereafter pay their final tribute to the veteran actor at the AASU headquarters in Uzan Bazar after the body had been brought there.

The actor’s mortal remains would be taken to the Navagraha crematorium where the last rites would be conducted with full state honours.

The veteran actor of the Assamese film industry breathed his last yesterday. Goswami passed away at the age of 80. 

Nipon Goswami was one of the most well-known personalities in the cultural strata of Assam and is regarded as the doyen of the Assamese film industry. 

He was admitted to the ICU of Guwahati’s Nemcare Hospital owing to cardiac illness.
