Miya Museum Controversy: 3 leaders sent to 2-day police custody

The two Miya Parishad leaders, who were detained on Tuesday evening over suspected terror links, were arrested yesterday.

Miya Parishad leaders Mohor Ali and Abdul Baten have been sent to two days of police custody over the Miya Museum controversy.

Along with them, Tanu Kumar Dhadumiya, who inaugurated the Miya Museum, has also been sent to two days of police custody. Noteworthy here is that Dhadumiya is the Aam Aadmi Party’s former Namrup convenor. The three persons were produced before a court yesterday which sent them to two days of police custody.

Noteworthy here are two other persons identified as Sadeq Ali and Jekibul Ali who were been arrested yesterday in this connection. Both persons were also produced before the court and were sent to five days of police custody.

The controversy grew bigger when arrested jihadis in the custody of Nalbari police claimed that two members of the Assam Miya Parishad had been in contact with them. The revelation was made by jihadi elements Jubir Hussain, Abu Rayhan, and Haider Ali who were arrested only last week.

Following the revelation, Nalbari police brought Miya Parishad’s chief Mohor Ali and another leader, Abdul Baten to the police station for questioning.

The two Miya Parishad leaders, who were detained on Tuesday evening over suspected terror links, were arrested yesterday.

This big development came less than 24 hours after authorities sealed the building where the controversial museum was set up.

Authorities sealed up the building over allegations of wrongful use of the premises. The building was originally built under the central government’s housing scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’.

It was also learned that Mohar Ali who was employed as a tutor in a school, was suspended from service last month for alleged anti-government activities. The other leader Abdul Baten retired as a teacher from the BN College in Dhubri.
