"I bow towards the spirit of the Armed Forces. Your sacrifices have always made our country proud," Modi said lauding the bravehearts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this morning reached Kargil to celebrate Diwali with the Armed Forces. During his interaction with the bravehearts, Prime Minister Modi said, “From this victorious land of Kargil, I wish the countrymen and the world a very happy #Diwali. There has not been a single war with Pakistan where Kargil has not hoisted the flag of victory. Diwali means ‘festival of end of terror’ and Kargil made it possible.”

Prime Minister Modi in his speech also said,” Our Army in Kargil crushed the fountainhead of terror & people, till date, remember the Diwali of victory the country celebrated.”

The Prime Minister lauding the forces said that it is because the armed forces are protecting our borders, that every citizen in India sleeps peacefully. “I bow towards the spirit of the Armed Forces of India. Your sacrifices have always made our country proud,” he said.

The Prime Minister added, “Every citizen in the country is working on strengthening the nation. From broadband connectivity in villages to over 80,000 startups in the country to ISRO launching satellites – India is progressing. All those at the border are proud of these achievements.”

“I commend all 3 armed forces who have decided that over 400 types of defence equipment won’t be imported but rather be built in India. When our jawans fight with made-in-India weapons, they will not only feel proud but also have an element of surprise to defeat the enemy,” Prime Minister Modi further added.

Modi has been celebrating Diwali with security personnel since 2014 when he became the PM in the first term.
