In line with their adopted resolution, the STDCM members submitted the memorandum to the social welfare minister.

The Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee of Manipur (STDCM) along with over 10 bodies today thronged the residence of social welfare minister Heikham Dingo at Pureiromba Khongnang-khong in Imphal and submitted a memorandum urging the minister to pursue its demand for inclusion of Meiteis in ST list of India.

In line with their adopted resolution, the STDCM members submitted the memorandum to the social welfare minister.

Minister Dingo maintained that since Manipur is inhabited by different communities, it becomes a challenge to fulfill the demand since there is a difference of opinions and interests.

He, however, vowed to recommend the memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Significantly, it is for the third time the STDCM members and supporters marched to the residences of ministers to submit a memorandum after the October 13 People’s Convention resolved to storm the residences of ministers, MLAs, and MPs to press forth their demand.

Earlier, minister L. Susindro had openly declared support for the demand and assured to approach the Chief Minister and other cabinet colleagues for the same while.
