Red alert in rain battered Sikkim; floods in Assam

Himalayan state Sikkim is likely to experience more rainfall in the next 24 hours. The IMD has sounded Red Alert
The Meteorological department has issued Red Alert for rain battered Sikkim. The Himalayan state has been experiencing heavy rainfall since the past few days leading to landslides in several parts of the state. Meanwhile, ‘orange’ warning of very heavy rain has been issued in Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Darjeeling in north Bengal till Wednesday.
Meanwhile, 3 districts in Assam namely Dhemaji,Lakhimpur and Dibrugarh have been affected by floods. The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger mark at Nimati Ghat. Over 30, 000 people have been affected by this wave of flood. The meteorological department has predicted heavy rainfall with thunderstorms in the next 48 hours over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
