The mortal remains of circle officer Sanju Das who lost his life in the tragic boat accident in Assam’s Dhubri were taken to his paternal home in Silchar today.
Upon reaching Silchar, the mortal remains were kept at the Circuit House where district administration officials paid their last respects.
Following this, the mortal remains were taken to his native village Irongmara in Dhalai district where the deceased will be laid to rest with full state honours.
Notably, Assam Cabinet Minister and Dhalai MLA Parimal Suklabaidya were also present as the mortal remains of Sanju Das were brought to Irongmara village earlier today.
It may be mentioned that the body of Sanju Das was recovered yesterday after over 72 hours of relentless search operations.
His body was floating at a distance of 1 kilometre from the accident site.
Sanju Das was among the 29 passengers onboard the ill-fated country boat that capsized on Thursday.
Meanwhile, two engineers of the L&T company have been arrested in connection with the boat accident.
