3-day celebration to observe district day in Dibrugarh

The vibrant cultural procession saw, multi-ethnic groups portraying the diverse culture of the Dibrugarh district.

A three-day celebration to observe district day in Dibrugarh began on Friday. The occasion was observed with a vibrant cultural procession from the Chowkidinghe ground to the main commercial hub of the city via the Mancotta Road.

The procession was flagged off by Sports & Youth Welfare and Cultural Affairs Ministers Bimal Bora.

Bora was flanked by Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu, Superintendent of Police Shwetank Mishra, local MLA Prasant Phukan, Dibrugarh Municipal Board chairman Saikat Patra and other senior officials from the administration and police.

The vibrant cultural procession saw, multi-ethnic groups portraying the diverse culture of the district. The participants joining the procession include students, clubs, and sports organizations.

n view of the special day, Bimal Bora extended his greetings to all the citizens of the district on behalf of the government. Bora noted that as responsible citizens, people need to explore the possibilities of making the district the best, where all can live in a harmony with equality, justice, and with dignity.

Speaking at the special occasion, Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora said that the Dibrugarh is observing the district day for the first time.

While considering the day on which the administrative affairs of the district started, the district day will mark its conclusion by celebrating the final district day on October 2, 2022.

Deputy Commissioner meanwhile speaking on the significance of the three-day event said that various activities have been lined up for the three-day program.

The event will have many fun activities like exhibitions, dog shows, open quizzes and seminars with poets and literary persons, sports events, health camps, drawing competitions, and many more.
