Assam: Dimasa National Liberation Tribal called 36 hours bandh

The district administration and NCHAC had ordered all the schools, colleges, shops as well as offices to remain open.

A 36 hours bandh was called in the Dima Hasao district by Dimasa National Liberation Tribal a newly floated armed organization on September 13.

Though no specific demands were put forth by the organization it is speculated that the bandh is declared against the proposal of bifurcation of the Dima Hasao district

As the bandh continued today, the worst affected among all where the students, who had to walk at least 6-7 km to reach their colleges for appearing in their examinations even though the administration tried to arrange vehicles for the students.

Meanwhile, the district administration and NCHAC had ordered all the schools, colleges, shops as well as offices to remain open.

On an official note, the district administration also directed all the employees to be present as usual failing to which disciplinary actions shall be taken.

In spite of the district administration’s orders most of the shops, as well as offices, were either closed or partially opened with very little attendance.

On the other hand, another militant group Dimasa National Liberation Army or the DNLA has issued a letter to the DNLT, to clarify the purpose of organizing the bandh to their group as well as to the Government and public clearly. DNLA further appealed DNLT group to stay united with them.
