Missing Arunachal mountaineers still untraced

There is still no trace of the missing mountaineer duo from Arunachal Tapi Mra and his assistant Niku Dao despite best efforts by the Indian Army personnel and East Kameng district administration engaged in the search operations.

As part of recce operations conducted on Sunday, the aerial search team was able to identify Camp 1 and Camp 2 tents in which the missing mountaineers might have been sheltering.

The team was also able to identify foot tracks leading from Camp 2 to some distance in the northerly direction, however, no sign of any human presence was found.

Therefore, the aerial team returned to the Army Airbase due to deteriorating weather.

Meanwhile, East Kameng DC is currently stationed at the Army Airbase to coordinate the rescue efforts along with the Indian Army.

Earlier this week, a foot-based search and rescue operation was carried out jointly by the East Kameng district administration and the Army to trace the missing duo, however, it was called off due to excessive rain and inclement weather.

The mountaineer duo went missing after setting out on an official expedition in Arunachal’s East Kameng district between August 22 and August 24.
