This interesting development comes in the backdrop of his ongoing Twitter spat with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today took to Twitter to pay homage to Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva on his 454th death anniversary.

This interesting development comes in the backdrop of his ongoing Twitter spat with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The argument between the two leaders in the virtual space began after Kejriwal while referring to the closure of 34 non-performing schools in Assam, said that the closure of schools was not a solution as the country is facing an apparent need to open more educational institutions.

Kejriwal further took a dig at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and said if schools in the northeastern state weren’t performing well then the problem could be fixed with combined efforts.

He even asked Chief Minister Sarma when he could come to Assam, thereby prolonging the Twitter spat between the two leaders.

Subsequently, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hit back at his Delhi counterpart over his statements, highlighting that Assam has over 60,000 government primary and secondary schools compared to the 1200 old schools in Delhi, and that, there should be no comparison between the two states.

Chief Minister Sarma in a jibe targeted at his Delhi counterpart, advised the latter to do his homework before making statements.

Meanwhile, people across Assam thronged Namghars across the state on the occasion. Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev’s Tirubhav tithi falls in August or September.

Sankardev was a 16th-century Assamese philosopher-saint credited with uniting Assam and considered the father of Assamese culture.
