CM Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that a total of 6 jihadis hailing from Bangladesh had come to Assam, to expand the terror network.

The Assam Police is on a mission mode to hunt the 5 Bangladesh nationals who had come to the state to spread the jihadi network.

It was only on Monday that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that a total of 6 jihadis hailing from Bangladesh had come to Assam, to expand the terror network, taking the guise of Imams.

While Abdus Subhan, who is one of the jihadis, has been arrested, the remaining 5 jihadis are still on the run.

It may be mentioned here that Abdus Subhan was arrested from the Tinikoniya Masjid in Goalpara. Prior to this, the police had also arrested another jihadi identified as Jalaluddin Sheikh from the Tilapara Masjid in Goalpara.

Both are in the custody of Dudhnoi police and are being rigorously interrogated. A team from the national investigation agency (NIA) is also interrogating the duo.

Security forces are expecting to unearth several key information from both who are currently in 77-day custody.

Meanwhile, as per the latest government directive, any Imam or religious teacher coming to Assam from outside will have to register their names in a portal being made for the purpose of keeping track of those keeping into the state for teaching in Madrassas.
