In a major jolt to the Manipur Congress, 38 former Senior leaders and members of Tengnoupal Congress Committee joined BJP yesterday.

A felicitation event was organised at Ngamkhai Veng in Moreh.

President of BJP Manipur Pradesh, A. Sarda Devi and Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Dr. RK. Ranjan along ith other BJP leaders attended the event.

BJP State President A. Sarda Devi and Union Minister Dr. RK. Ranjan accorded a warm welcome to the newly joined party members on the occasion.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, New entrant to the BJP and Former Vice President of Tengnoupal Block Congress Committee, Sochung Lhungdhim refuted the claims stating that 2/3 former members of INC joined BJP after they were expelled from Congress Party.

He asserted that the former Congress members, who served in the Party for over 30 years resolved to switch to BJP in appreciation of the ideals of BJP and in acknowledgement of the activities initiated by MLA of 42 Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency, Letpao Haokip.

BJP State President A. Sarda Devi, who attended the felicitation event, said that many have decided to switch to the BJP appreciating the vision, policies BJP led NDA Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ideologies of BJP.

Speaking at the event Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education, Dr. RK. Ranjan highlighted the slew of developmental activities in Moreh initiated by the BJP led Government in the State, further mentioning that there is an integrated Check Post at Moreh and BJP Ministers working for welfare for the people of the town.
