8 cadres of Kuki Tribal Union laid down arms at Assam’s Haflong

As many as 8 cadres of the proscribed Kuki Tribal Union laid down arms at Haflong in Assam’s Dima Hasao today.

As per reports, the Assam Rifles had been appealing to the cadres for several months now to give up arms after their extortion activities were detected.

Furthermore, reports suggest that all the surrendered cadres were breakaway members of the militant outfit Kuki Revolutionary Army.

Meanwhile, according to the surrendered cadres, the group mainly operates in Kuki-dominated areas of Nagaland, Dima Hasao, and Karbi Anglong and recently started extorting money in Kuki areas of Manipur’s Jiribam and Tamenglong as well.

Besides, the surrendered cadres were informed that KTU is affiliated with the NSCN (IM) and have been receiving training from them.
