Prior to this, Marak had been sent to six days in police custody in the case related to the seizure of explosives from his farmhouse near Tura.
There seems to be no end to the troubles of BJP Vice President Bernard Marak as he has been remanded to six days of police custody. The order for his custody was given yesterday during a hearing at the CMJ Court in Meghalaya’s Tura.
Prior to this, Marak had been sent to six days in police custody in the case related to the seizure of explosives from his farmhouse near Tura.
Noteworthy here is that on July 28, a substantial quantity of explosives was recovered from the infamous farmhouse of Marak, which was also allegedly used by the Meghalaya BJP leader as a brothel.
A raid was conducted on the premises of the Tura MDC’s Edenbari farmhouse from where a huge amount of liquor bottles, contraceptives as well as other documents were found.
Police also apparently rescued at least 5 children from the farmhouse who were later sent to the care of the DCPO West Garo Hills.
Another 73 persons were arrested on the spot, with many of them currently out on bail. Marak was charged with running a prostitution racket under the Immoral Activities Act and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Marak was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police on July 26 after the Meghalaya police issued a lookout for him in the brothel case.
