Supreme Court adjourns for August 22 matter relating to AIFF suspension

The Supreme Court today adjourned the hearing on a plea relating to the suspension of the All India Football Federation by the international football governing body FIFA.
The hearing has been adjourned till August 22, the hearing was based on a request by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta who appeared for the central government.
Solicitor Mehta told the apex court that considering several factors about what can be done, the Centre on Tuesday had taken up the matter with FIFA and the Committee of Administrators who also played a key role in breaking the ice which has taken place.
The Supreme Court has asked the Centre to take proactive measures and ensure the holding of the Under 17 World Cup and lifting the suspension.
FIFA had suspended AIFF citing “undue interference by the third party”, referring to a Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators to handle the daily affairs of AIFF.
