Crackdown on terrorism in Manipur; 12 PLA cadres arrested within 3 days

It was only yesterday when 5 cadres involved in at least a couple of recent IED blasts and killings of non-locals were arrested.
The Manipur Police is on a Mission Mode to thwart terror activities in the state. Since August 14, twelve PLA cadres have been arrested by the cops thus averting major terror attacks.

Speaking to our correspondent Sharat Chandra, Thoubal SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam informed that the attacks were carried out under the instructions of Self-styled lieutenant colonel Rishikanta.
The Thoubal SP further informed that appropriate security arrangements have been made to foil terror activities. Besides this, Thoubal SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam informed that the PLA is making attempts to disrupt development activities.
A joint team of police and Assam Rifles apprehended as many as 5 cadres yesterday who were involved in at least a couple of recent IED blasts and killings of non-locals.
This comes close on the heels of the arrest of 7 cadres ahead of Independence Day.
Police sources said that acting on a tip-off, a combined team of Thoubal police and 16 Assam Rifles conducted cordon and search operations at Tentha Tuwaband Leikai, Thoubal district during which 3 cadres were arrested. 4 hand grenades were also seized from them.
Police further said that on follow-up of the above operation, two other cadres were also arrested.
The arrested cadres are also said to be behind the IED Blast at Durga Mandir, Telepati, Imphal East on May 13 and the IED Blast at Khongjom Sapam, Thoubal on May 30.
In an effort to boost the level of competition and dedication towards education in Pasighat, MLA Kaling Moyong on Tuesday awarded a total of 10 laptops to meritorious students who secured 1st position in Class X, Class XII, Bachelors and Masters Exams.
The award ceremony was organized at the auditorium of the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat.
Laptops and certificates were awarded to the topper in the presence of their parents, teachers, and a galaxy of officials from administration, police, and education.
Pasighat East MLA, Kaling Moyong who was seemingly content with the initiative, said he will continue the award program in the next academic session as well, motivating and encouraging students to do better. He also advised students in his constituency to excel in their studies and win the laptops.
