Manipur: ATSUM finance secy arrested from Kangpokpi district

Henkai Singsit who resides at Motbung in Senapati District was reportedly arrested from his home according to his family members.
Imphal West police reportedly arrested ATSUM Finance Secretary Henkai Singsit from his residence last night at around 10 PM.
Singsit who resides at Motbung in Senapati District was reportedly arrested from his home according to his family members. Moreover, the police did not explain why Singsit was being detained according to his family members.
It needs to be mentioned here that Henkai Singsit has been vocal against the government in regards to the non-tabling of the Hill Areas Committee recommended Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill 2021.
He had also condemned the recent incident from Imphal where Police allegedly assaulted School students partaking in a protest demanding the release of 5 arrested ATSUM leaders.
Earlier on Thursday, the All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) said that it is open to talks and even a give and take with the state government on the ADC draft bill 2021 issue.
Speaking to Northeast Live Editor in Chief Wasbir Hussain on the show Northeast Tonight, general secretary of ATSUM Andria Sinruwng said that the union and its federating units are ready for talks as long as the dialogue is sincere.
Meanwhile, in a significant statement, BJP spokesman Johnson Elangbam said that the N Biren Singh-led state government is always open to discussion and hinted that CM N Biren Singh may directly take part in talks.
