Bernard Marak remanded to 6 day police custody

Meghalaya BJP vice president and Tura MDC Bernard Marak was produced in the CJM court Tura a short while ago.

He has been remanded to a six day police custody by the CJM court.

Marak’s 8-day police custody ended today and the West Garo Hills police were seeking extension of his custody.

Marak who was arrested from Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh on July 26 after he went absconding following a raid on his farmhouse on the outskirts of Tura has been accused of running a prostitution racket.

To add to his troubles, as per police, of the 5 minors rescued from the farmhouse one was found to be sexually assaulted following medical examination. Adding to it explosives were also recovered from the farmhouse Rimpu Bagan days after the raid.


It is to be seen now if the Court extends Bernard Marak’s custody or grants relief to him.
