Income Tax Commissioner (Audit) of Guwahati Swetabh Suman and three others, who were arrested on Friday while taking Rs 40 lakh as bribe, have been remanded in CBI custody for three more days after they were produced before the Special CBI judge in Guwahati yesterday.

Although the CBI had sought an extension of their remand by five more days, the Special CBI judge remanded them to custody for three days. A bail petition on behalf of the arrested accused has also been moved that is likely to be heard on April 20.

Swetabh Suman, a 1988 batch IRS officer, was arrested on Friday in New Delhi along with Income Tax Officer (Audit) Pratap Das and advocates and chartered accountants Ramesh Goenka and Amit Goenka and a middleman for allegedly seeking a bribe of Rs 50 lakh from Jorhat- based businessman Suresh Agarwala.
